Dr. Sumon Chowdhury is a Consultant in Endocrinology at Chittagong Diabetic General Hospital in Bangladesh. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of hormonal and metabolic disorders, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, and other endocrine conditions. With a strong commitment to patient-centered care, he focuses on providing evidence-based treatment and long-term disease management. Dr. Chowdhury is also actively involved in promoting diabetes awareness and improving endocrinology services within the community.
Dr. Sumon Rahman Chowdhury is a distinguished Endocrinologist and Diabetologist with over 17 years of experience in the management of diabetes and endocrine disorders. Currently serving as Registrar in the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Chittagong Diabetic General Hospital, Bangladesh, he is widely recognized for his contributions to clinical endocrinology, diabetes care, and medical education. Dr. Chowdhury completed his MD with “cum laude” honors from the University of Debrecen, Hungary, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes with Distinction from Cardiff University, UK. He further earned an MMed in Endocrinology from Shandong University, China, graduating as an “Excellent Graduate,” and later completed his MPH in Public Health. He also holds a Fellowship in Endocrinology from IBMP, USA, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Endocrinology from ACE-Eduqual, UK. An accomplished academician and researcher, Dr. Chowdhury has authored over 50 publications in national and international journals, with a strong focus on diabetes complications and biomarkers of diabetic retinopathy. He is also the author of the book Biomarkers of Diabetic Retinopathy published in Germany. Passionate about education and research, he actively contributes to international conferences and serves as a Course Tutor for the prestigious Certificate Course in Diabetology conducted by BIRDEM in collaboration with Open University, UK.
