Dr. Habiba Al Safar is a distinguished Emirati research scholar and scientist recognized for her pioneering contributions to genomics, precision medicine, and biomedical research. With an exceptional academic background that includes a Ph.D. in Forensics and Medical Sciences from Western Australia, an M.Sc. in Medical Engineering from the United Kingdom, and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the United States, she has established herself as a leading figure in genomic research within the Arab world. Dr. Al Safar’s research focuses on constructing genomic structures of individuals of Arab descent to identify genetic segments associated with disease predisposition, particularly conditions that are increasingly prevalent within UAE communities. Her work plays a significant role in advancing personalized medicine, early disease detection, and population-specific healthcare strategies aimed at improving long-term health outcomes. Recognized internationally for her scientific excellence, Dr. Al Safar was awarded the prestigious International L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowship for Women in Science, highlighting her contributions as one of the outstanding Arab women scientists. She also received the UAE First Honor Model recognition from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for being a pioneer in her field. As a member of the UAE Science Council since 2016, Dr. Habiba Al Safar continues to contribute to scientific innovation, healthcare research, and the advancement of genomics and precision medicine in the region and beyond.
