Dr. Saravanan Palaniappan is a highly accomplished Senior Interventional Cardiologist, Electrophysiologist, and Heart Transplant Physician with over two decades of clinical and leadership experience across India and the UK. He currently serves as the Head of the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Medical Director – Superspecialty Services at East Point Medical College Hospital, Bengaluru, and is also the Director of Advanced Cardiac Care (ACC), Vellore. Prior to this, he held key leadership roles including Medical Director and HOD of Cardiovascular Sciences at Ponjesly Super Speciality Hospital, where he spearheaded efforts to bring high-quality, affordable cardiac care to underserved Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions in Tamil Nadu. His extensive global experience includes tenures at renowned institutions such as Fortis Hospital (Chennai), Bangalore Baptist Hospital, MIOT International, and leading NHS Trusts in the UK including Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, and Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. Dr. Saravanan Palaniappan brings deep expertise in clinical trials, electrophysiology, heart failure management, and cardiac interventions, with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and healthcare equity.

Dr. Saravanan Palaniappan holds an exceptional academic record in medicine and cardiology, with a rich blend of national and international training. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and later an MD in Internal Medicine from Madurai Medical College, where he graduated with distinction in multiple subjects and was awarded the Gold Medal by the Association of Physicians of India. He further obtained his CCT in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Electrophysiology from the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB), UK, after completing rigorous specialist training across top NHS institutions. Saravanan Palaniappan also holds a prestigious PhD in Cardiac Physiology, with a focus on Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology, from the University of Manchester. Additionally, he was conferred the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), UK, in recognition of his clinical excellence and contributions to the field of medicine. His academic journey is further distinguished by leadership roles during his formative years, including active participation in student societies and national service programs.
