He currently serves as a Clinical Associate at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he continues to contribute to advanced pediatric cardiac care. Dr. Cardarelli is also the Co-Founder and Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon at Global Cardiac Alliance, a global humanitarian initiative dedicated to helping low- and middle-income countries develop sustainable pediatric cardiac surgery programs. Dr. Marcello Cardarelli earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he completed his foundational medical training between 1974 and 1980. He later pursued advanced studies in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, obtaining a Master of Public Health (MPH) between 2003 and 2006, further strengthening his expertise in global health systems and population-based healthcare approaches. In addition to his formal education, Dr. Cardarelli has actively participated in international humanitarian medical missions, serving as a Visiting Surgeon in programs such as the Humanitarian Medical Mission at Hospital de Niños in Havana, Cuba (2001) and Hands Across America in Cali, Colombia (2008). These experiences reflect his strong commitment to global health, capacity building, and improving access to pediatric cardiac care in underserved regions.
