About the Case Discussion Topic:
Recent updates in Vitamin D management emphasize individualized supplementation based on serum 25(OH)D levels, with a target range typically between 30–50 ng/mL for most adults. Daily dosing (rather than high monthly doses) is now preferred for better absorption and stability. Vitamin D sufficiency is increasingly linked to immune function, musculoskeletal health, and chronic disease prevention. Guidelines recommend 800–2,000 IU/day for adults at risk of deficiency, with higher doses under medical supervision for those with severe deficiency. Clinicians are also advised to monitor calcium levels and renal function in long-term or high-dose supplementation.
