Ulcerative colitis, a long-lasting inflammatory bowel disease, needs a custom treatment plan to handle symptoms and stop complications. Doctors now use anti-inflammatory drugs drugs that weaken the immune system, and biologics to keep inflammation in check and maintain remission. New treatment options, like Janus kinase blockers, give new hope to patients who don't respond to standard treatments. Changes in lifestyle dealing with stress, and tweaking diet also help manage symptoms.
