Dr. Pratap Chandra (P.C.) Rath is a highly respected Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Cath Lab & Interventional Cardiology at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, with over four decades of clinical excellence. A pioneer in interventional cardiology, he performed the first transradial coronary angioplasty in the Asia-Pacific region and introduced several advanced procedures in India, including carotid and venous graft interventions with protection devices. He has performed over 100,000 angiograms and 50,000 angioplasties, alongside thousands of complex cardiac and peripheral interventions. Dr. Rath holds an MBBS from VSS Medical College, an MD in General Medicine from SCB Medical College, and a DM in Cardiology from CMC Vellore, followed by advanced fellowships in France and Germany. As the current President of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI) for 2023–24, he plays a key role in shaping cardiovascular care nationally and is affiliated with leading global cardiology bodies, contributing extensively to research, innovation, and education in the field.
