Intravascular Lithotripsy

Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) is a novel technique used for treating in-stent restenosis, which occurs when scar tissue re-narrows a previously stented artery. IVL utilizes acoustic pressure waves to fracture and modify the calcified plaque within the artery, thereby restoring vessel patency. This procedure is minimally invasive and can be particularly beneficial in cases where traditional balloon angioplasty or stent placement is challenging. IVL has shown promising results in improving blood flow and reducing the recurrence of restenosis. Clinical studies are ongoing to further validate its efficacy and safety
