Keterangan

Overexertion refers to the act of pushing your body beyond its normal limits.

This can lead to a number of health problems, including heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. There are many different factors that can contribute to heart disease, including overexertion. Overexertion can cause the heart to work harder than it should, which can lead to damage over time. This can include damage to the heart muscle, as well as other parts of the cardiovascular system. Overexertion can also increase the risk of developing high blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for heart disease. High blood pressure can cause damage to the walls of the arteries, which can lead to a range of cardiovascular problems. Overexertion can also increase the risk of developing coronary artery disease, which is a condition where the arteries that supply blood to the heart become narrowed and blocked.

Ringkasan

  • Exercise helps maintain blood pressure, improves blood glucose levels, and strengthens blood vessel health, leading to more efficient heart function. It enhances muscles' ability to extract oxygen from the blood, reducing the heart's workload, and lowers stress hormones. Furthermore, exercise acts as a beta-blocker, slowing the heart rate and decreasing blood pressure while elevating beneficial high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
  • Regular exercise can significantly aid in quitting smoking by reducing withdrawal symptoms and cravings for nicotine. It helps control appetite and limit weight gain often associated with smoking cessation. Moreover, exercise is beneficial for managing pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure and aids in cardiac rehabilitation after a cardiac event.
  • Obese individuals require more blood circulation, increasing blood pressure, which is a common cause of heart attacks. Exercise helps to control weight and build a stronger immune system, allowing immune cells to function effectively, increasing blood flow, decreasing inflammation, and strengthening antibodies.
  • For heart health, aiming for at least 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, totaling 150 minutes, is recommended. Moderate intensity exercises like jogging, skipping, swimming, and bicycle riding are beneficial. The World Health Organization suggests 150 minutes of moderate intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity exercise per week.
  • Before starting an exercise regimen, especially with underlying cardiac conditions or chronic diseases, it's essential to consult a physician. Physical symptoms such as chest pain or breathing difficulties should be evaluated. Sudden cardiac deaths related to exercise occur in a small percentage of people and can be prevented through early diagnosis.
  • Moderate intensity exercise is defined by being able to hold a conversation while exercising, known as the "talk test." It's crucial to gradually increase exercise intensity over time to prevent stressing the heart. The frequency of check-ups depends on individual risk factors and health conditions, with yearly checks recommended for those with risk factors and less frequent checks for healthy individuals.
